When it comes to International Day of Yoga

Some thoughts: I’m grateful for the growth and insight yoga can offer. And I’m unimpressed by literally everything else.

It’s not for me to say how the practice needs to land for you, just remember to do your best to understand how you’re implicated when you choose a certain style or type of practice and hold on tight for dear life regardless of any critical conversation from those with greater context.

When it comes to International Day of Yoga

I’m not moved by how many sun salutations you jumped into because of a vague notion of meditative peace and connection to cosmos.

&

I’m not impressed by the exorbitant number of festivals, programs, events, and marketing ploys hosted to sell people into yoga consumerism

&

I’m disappointed that modern lineage holders and politicians attempt to control and distort the aims of yoga by pushing a castrated and watered down version of yoga to people who are not opting in.

&

I’m simply grateful for the people and community in my life that do not attempt to compartmentalize yoga to a time-limited, PVC-treated, mat based, movement only practice.

Can you relate?
